Each stone is designed to make the most of its natural characteristics, through a meticulous selection and processing of the raw piece. The rich color range, the finesse of the shades and the variety of shapes and sizes make these stones versatile and in line with contemporary jewelry trends.
Strands
Massa Gioconda’s loose strands enhance the beauty of coral and turquoise with diverse shapes like spheres, barrels, canes, and discs. Each strand, from single to multiple models, is designed to highlight the natural shine and timeless elegance of these materials, offering endless style possibilities for refined jewelry.

Engravings
Created by expert artisans, Massa Gioconda’s engravings combine quality and precision. Made from Mediterranean, Pacific or turquoise coral, they depict classic and contemporary motifs, from naturalistic subjects to modern forms. The sinuous lines and the contrasts of protrusions and recesses create a play of light and shadow that gives softness and plasticity to the forms, transforming the hard material into harmonious works of great refinement and visual dynamism.

Cameo
The cameo is a miniature work of art that encompasses tradition and craftsmanship. Originating from the ancient art of engraving on semi-precious stones and shells, it has crossed the centuries conquering kings, nobles and art lovers. Today, cameos remain a symbol of elegance, seamlessly blending tradition with modernity.

The Creative Process: From Raw Material to Finished Product

Material Selection
Raw coral branches are carefully inspected to evaluate their natural characteristics, veins, and color purity. This process determines the most suitable type of crafting.
Cutting the Branches
Coral branches are cut along their natural joints and divided into cylinders, which are then sorted by size.
Rounding
This step transforms the raw cylinder into a loose stone by shaping it against a grinding wheel until it takes on its characteristic round shape. The process is more or less the same for all stone shapes.
Drilling
Traditionally, coral stones for earrings and necklaces were drilled by hand using a wooden bow and tensioned wire with a needle. Today, small automatic or semi-automatic drills are used.
Polishing and Buffing
Once crafted, the coral appears dull with microscopic surface scratches from the grinding wheel. In the polishing phase these imperfections are removed, reviving the coral’s natural color and shine.
